Links for Programs,
Movies, and Commercials
- If a TV program or movie is being watched, the
link could bring the viewer to a Web site describing the making of the
program or movie, and biographies of the program or movie's stars.
- For a TV series, the Web site could describe
what happened in previous episodes, or even provide transcripts of previous
shows.
- If a commercial is being viewed, the Web site
could describe the product in greater detail, list local dealers of the
product, and special incentives to buy the product all of which can be
changed instantly, to reflect current market conditions.
How a Home Television
Viewer Accesses a TV Crossover Link
- There are two ways to access a TV Crossover
Link. The simplest way is to use is a WebTVš box, and the WebTVš Internet
service. The other way is to use a computer with Windows 98 and a TV tuner
board, with your own choice of Internet service.
- When watching TV, a stylized i
(meaning more information) appears on the TV screen whenever a program or
commercial has a Crossover Link. The viewer has only to click the icon to
access the associated Web site. The viewer then has the option of continuing
to view the program as a picture within a picture while viewing the Web
site, or can simply view the Web site full screen. The viewer then can
switch back to view the TV broadcast full screen.
